For lovers of skiing, there is a real attraction nearby – a 2.5-kilometer long illuminated and artificially snowed ski trail marked as red, from Stóg (1105 m above sea level) to Świeradów-Zdrój. The route is operated by a year-round gondola lift – more information is available at www.skisun.pl. It takes about 25 minutes by car from our house to the car park at the bottom gondola station.

Nearby, on the Czech side of the Jizera Mountains, there is also a large downhill skiing resort in Rokytnice nad Jizerou (www.skiareal-rokytnice.cz).

Also, cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find conditions for practicing this sport in the nearest area.

One can start in Świeradów-Zdrój, where trails along the forest roads on Zajęcznik have been laid out and groomed, a total of 10 km.

Another option is to take the gondola lift to get to the Stóg, where the “Black Grouse Trail” („Szlak Cietrzewia”) starts, leading in a single track, in two variants, to the Polana Jakuszycka (swieradowzdroj.pl/2250-swieradowzdroj-na-izerskim-szlaku-cietrzewia).

You can also go further to Szklarska Poręba or – through the bridge on Jizera river (tourist border crossing Orle – Jizerka) – to the Czech Republic, where you can choose many kilometers of cross-country trails, which are described here: www.jizerskaops.cz/bezkarske-trasy.

The Polana Jakuszycka resort itself is the most famous center of this sport in Poland (www.jakuszyce.info.pl/trasybiegowe.php).

It is possible to rent skiing equipment in both Świeradów-Zdrój and Polana Jakuszycka.
