MONUMENTS OF CULTURE

The Jizera Foothills is also the area of wonderful historic monuments of sacred and secular architecture – churches, monasteries, palaces surrounded by gardens and parks, charming old towns, beautiful water dams – all accessible for motorists and cyclists.

It is also a place – especially in the summer season – for many diverse cultural events in the broad sense – festivals, concerts, fairs, exhibitions, outdoor events.

We will say a few words about some of them below …

The closest of these magnificent historic buildings is located in Lubomierz, one of the smallest cities in Lower Silesia, less than 3 km from our farm. In 2016 Lubomierz celebrated its 725th anniversary as a city.

Among the many historic monuments of this beautiful town, one stands out – a magnificent baroque church founded in the early 18th century by the abbess of the Benedictine monastery there.

In addition to the church, the city offers many other attractions – a monastery museum, a city museum, a historic town square, city walls, an astronomical path in recently restored monastery gardens, a calvary and many others.

In recent years, various treasures from past centuries have been discovered in Lubomierz – secular and religious, which can now be seen in the museum.

Every year in Lubomierz many cultural events take place, very popular among residents and numerous tourists visiting the city. The most interesting of these events are: Izerska Parada Powozów (the parade of horse-drawn carriages) during the “May Day” (between 1st and 3rd of May), the Nationwide Festival of Comedy Films in mid-August and the Exhibition of Silesian Horses and Polish Ponies in September.
