THE JIZERA MOUNTAINS AND THE ŚWIERADÓW ZDRÓJ

The Jizera Mountains, the westernmost range of the Sudeten Mountains, belong to the least known and the most mysterious mountains in Poland. It lies on the Polish-Czech border and on the Polish side consists of two mountain ridges: Kamienicki and Wysoki (High). Between them runs a beautifully landscaped road connecting Świeradów-Zdrój with Szklarska Poręba, ending with the famous “turn of death”.

The Jizera Mountains located west of the popular Karkonosze Mountains, captivate with their wild beauty and invite you for trips – without crowds on the trails, on which it is easier to meet wild (but not dangerous) animals than people…

You can explore them on foot or by bike or even on horseback.

From the end of 2008, pedestrians, cyclists and skiers can quickly and conveniently get to one of the Jizera ridge thanks to the gondola lift to one of the highest peaks of the mountains, Stóg (1105 m above sea level).

The lift is open all year round and makes the route of 2172 m (elevation difference of 443 m) in 8 minutes. More info on page skisun.pl.

At the foot of the High Ridge one of the most beautiful spas in the Sudeten is located – Świeradów-Zdrój (German: Bad Flinsberg).

The little town has retained the character of the Sudetic spa, with spa houses and guesthouses located in carefully maintained parks.

The spa is famous for healing waters, already known at the end of the 16th century. One can try the waters treating various diseases in a beautiful wooden walking hall located in the heart of the spa – the largest object of its kind in Lower Silesia.

It takes about 25 minutes by car from our house to get a center of Świeradów Zdrój or a car park at the bottom gondola station.
