From November 2019, our Lubomierz impresses with new pavements, lighting emphasizing in the evenings the charm of historic tenement houses, arcades, stone figures and market space. The great revitalization project of the town center was completed. Two historic buildings were also modernized: the Volunteer Fire Brigade Depot and the “Płóciennik House” (house of producer and trader of canvas).
The streets had been paved with historic, recovered old basalt stones, benches and elements referring to the town’s history appeared: a stone water tank in the former drinking place for animals and a large stone table in memory of the fairs that old Lubomierz was famous for. In the evenings, beautiful stylized lamps “sculpt” the market space with light and shadow.
During works under the supervision of an archaeologist, old municipal wooden water supplying pipes and medieval wooden pavement were discovered. The finds in fragments will be exhibited in the city museum.
The investment cost amounted to PLN 8.6 million, of which over PLN 7.2 million came from the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget.
